WGTS Hosts First Eastern Shore Concert

WGTS 91.9 celebrated its one-year anniversary on the Eastern Shore with a summer beach concert as part of the “91 Days of Summer.” About one year ago WGTS purchased and launched 88.3 FM. Over 600 listeners enjoyed the afternoon with a concert from the Christian music artist Blessing Offor. Afternoon show hosts Johnny and Stacey Stone broadcasted live from the beach and the WGTS staff served ice cream to everyone as part of the ongoing ice cream tour.

"We were very excited about our first event at Ocean City. We had a good turnout and look forward to more events on the Eastern Shore," said WGTS Strategic Initiative Director Mike Agee.

Interns Conclude First-Ever WGTS 91.9 Leadership Associate Development Program

WGTS 91.9 carried out their first Leadership Associate Development Program this summer with three college students from local and distant universities. WGTS has a long history of serving college students and encouraging young people entering the career force. The program enhanced the professional skills of interns by allowing them to complete executive projects, promote station events and engage in personal interactions with listeners.

WGTS Listeners Sponsor Over 20,000 Ukrainian Refugees

WGTS 91.9 listeners recently assisted 20,000 Ukrainian refugees through a partnership with ADRA International (Adventist Development and Relief Agency). ADRA has maintained a presence in Ukraine since the beginning of their crisis, providing aid and emergency supplies.

WGTS hosted a text campaign encouraging listeners to donate money to help provide SOS kits for refugees. Within two weeks, listeners raised $30,000, which went to filling kits with food, water purification tools, blankets, and medicine.

WGTS 91.9 is back after two years to host their first ice cream social on Friday, June 17. Over 300 WGTS listeners descended on Baker Park in Frederick, Md., for free ice cream and a chance to hang out with the WGTS crew. WGTS afternoon show hosts Johnny and Stacey Stone did their afternoon broadcast.

“After two years of not gathering in large groups, it’s good to get back out on the road. Serving ice cream to hundreds of people is totally our brand of fun,” says promotions director and morning show host Jerry Woods.

Every day, the WGTS team encourages listening families to learn more about God through study of the Bible. Each afternoon, listeners learn from a fun game named Bible or Not, hosted by Johnny and Stacey Stone. They started Bible or Not on WGTS five years ago. “As soon as it is announced for listeners to call in to play the game on-air, all 10 phone lines light up like a Christmas tree,” says Johnny.
