Columbia Union Members Participate in Successful Global Youth Day

Groups from Beltsville and Washington Adventist University participate in Global Youth Day.

Distributing food and water to the less fortunate and refugees, visiting nursing homes and cleaning parks were just a few of the acts of service that Columbia Union Conference youth and young adults participated in last Sabbath’s Global Youth Day.

Adventist Students Join 17-Minute Walkout for School Safety

More than 100 students, staff and faculty from Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Takoma Park, Md., braved stiff wintery gusts to participate in the National School Walkout marking one month since the shooting that took the lives of 15 students and two staff members at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. They were among students from across the Columbia Union Conference and elsewhere who participated.

WGTS 91.9 Words of Hope: “Turn the Page”

Each month WGTS 91.9 staff share a short film that adds perspective to those very real moments everyone faces, reminding you there is hope through Jesus.

WGTS Listeners Reach Out to Compassion Kids

WGTS 91.9 listeners recently answered the call to help children in poverty with the station’s recent “Days of Compassion” event. WGTS, a Christian radio station based on the campus of Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Md., teamed up with a team from ShareMedia representing Compassion to encourage listeners to sponsor Compassion kids from countries around the world. When it was all said and done, listeners had taken care of over 860 children.

WGTS Holds Women’s Event with Natalie Grant

WGTS 91.9 hosted more than 2,200 women at the recent “Dare to Be” women’s event with Natalie Grant and Charlotte Gambill at the Hylton Christian Event Center. The station has hosted this event for the past five years. The event seeks to inspire women to “dare to be” the women that God has called them to be. Through music, prayer and the inspirational messages Grant and Gambill encouraged women to live their roles as wives, moms, employees, daughters and friends to the fullest. It’s a celebration of Christian womanhood.
