Release: Keys to Practical Christian Living

“A lot of the time we think blessings are only those things that make us feel good, but the key to walkng with God is to understand that the blessing comes in whatever God sends our way that draws us closer to Him,” says Charles Tapp, senior pastor of Potomac Conference’s Sligo church in Takoma Park, Md. He shares similar practical applications in Keys to Practical Living, a CD of short messages from Sligo’s radio ministry, Simple Truths for Life, on WGTS 91.9.

Book Release: Hope for Today's Families

Written to meet perhaps one of today’s strongest felt needs, Hope for Today’s Families is the 2019 sharing book for the Seventh-day Adventist world church.

We interviewed authors Willie and Elaine Oliver, director and associate director of the Family Ministries Department at the General Conference to learn more about the book and biggest challenges facing families today.

Book Release: Children Are Gifts

Edwina Neely, a member of Potomac Conference’s Rockville (Md.) church, recently wrote Children Are Gifts, a book for parents. It includes illustrations about younger children, as well as principles that apply to parents with children of all ages.

During her 30 years of working in education, Edwina was employed as a teacher, childcare center owner and in the Potomac Conference Elementary Education Department—all of which provided the experience she needed for her book. She credits God for helping her finish the book, published by WestBow Press.

Book Release: Burst the Bubble

Seventh-day Adventists sometimes tend to “do life” in their own bubble of sorts—speaking their own church language (GC, haystacks, AY), socializing with people who believe like they do and even shopping in special stores, says Sung Kwon, executive director of the North American Division Adventist Community Services, and a member of Chesapeake Conference’s Spencerville church in Silver Spring, Md.

In his book, Burst the Bubble, Kwon challenges Adventist readers to “burst the bubble” and engage the community in what he calls “life on life evangelism.”

In his latest book, Perfect Grace, Tom Hughes, pastor of Ohio Conference’s Newark and Lancaster churches, shares about discouragement that came from his endless pursuit of perfection.  In the book, Hughes provides the remedy.

Hughes: I’ve learned that we can’t add anything to God’s perfect grace, we just accept his glorious gift of salvation full and free!
