July 1, 2021: Called for His Purpose

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28, NKJV).

This verse has taken on many meanings throughout the course of my life. I remember first hearing it while listening to the radio program Your Story Hour. Throughout the story, the main character kept saying that “all things work together for good.” To my young self, this meant that, no matter what, everything would be OK, and nothing too terrible would happen to me because God wouldn’t let it. Of course, now I think a little differently.

WGTS 91.9 Expands Ministry to the Eastern Shore

WGTS 91.9 is celebrating the expansion of the ministry to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware.

The station just hosted a sign-on party from the Washington, D.C., area studios. Donors, staff, and listeners joined together in-person, on the air, and online to see the new station sign on for the first time. In March, generous donors shared enough funds to purchase station WRAU from American University in Washington, D.C. The station’s new call letters are WGBZ, Ocean City, Md., and it is on the dial at 88.3, FM. It will cover over 500,000 residents in the Eastern Shore region.

Durante el Tercer Congreso Quinquenal Constituyente de la Conferencia de Potomac, celebrada a través de Zoom en marzo, los delegados votaron como presidente de la conferencia a Charles A. Tapp, antiguo pastor principal de la iglesia de Sligo de la Conferencia de Potomac en Takoma Park, Maryland.

Cuando Bill Miller, presidente de la conferencia durante casi 15 años, se alejó de su cargo, expresó su gratitud a los constituyentes en su informe presidencial, diciendo: “Gracias a todos ustedes por los muchos años exitosos de traer almas preciosas al reino y el trabajo en el crecimiento de iglesias sanas y que hacen discípulos”.

Tim Bailey est el Nuevo Presidente de la Conferencia de Mountain View

Esta primavera, el Comité Ejecutivo de la Conferencia de Mountain View eligió a Tim Bailey como el nuevo presidente de la conferencia. Desde el 2015, Bailey se ha desempeñado como director ministerial y coordinador de evangelización de la Conferencia de Pensilvania.

Bailey reemplaza a Mike Hewitt, quien aceptó un llamado para servir como vicepresidente administrativo de la Conferencia de Kentucky-Tennessee.

June 26, 2021: A Beautiful Promise

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jer. 29:11, NKJV).

This is my favorite verse because of the promise God gives us. He promises that He is in control of our future and tells us that He has a good purpose for us, no matter what happens. God takes on a proactive role in this relationship. We may think we know what is good for us, but He knows what is best.

A good father won’t spoil or harm his child. He may allow his child’s character to grow through difficulties, but that is to develop a good and righteous person. That is how God is.

June 25, 2021: A Wonderful Gift

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:11–14, KJV).

God’s grace, in the person of Jesus Christ, brought us salvation. Jesus also came to teach us how we should live. His grace does not free us to live in sin, giving in to the temptations of this world and go against His will.
