The Columbia Union Conference, established in 1907 to coordinate the Seventh-day Adventist Church's work in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia, is part of the worldwide Protestant denomination of 23 million members in more than 212 countries. At the union level, we connect and provide administrative leadership, governance and support services to our conferences, schools, health care networks and ministries. Kettering Adventist HealthCare Study Provides No-cost Tumor Sequencing to Patients With Advanced Cancers

Tumor genome sequencing is now available at Kettering Adventist HealthCare, based in Dayton, Ohio, for patients with an advanced form of the disease as part of a national, industry-sponsored study by Strata Oncology, a precision oncology company.

Kettering Adventist HealthCare is one of only eight sites in the country and the only one in Ohio to offer this unique tumor profiling and clinical trial to advanced cancer patients.

WGTS 91.9 hosted more than 2,200 women at the recent “Dare to Be” women’s event with Natalie Grant and Charlotte Gambill at the Hylton Christian Event Center. The station has hosted this event for the past five years. The event seeks to inspire women to “dare to be” the women that God has called them to be. Through music, prayer and the inspirational messages Grant and Gambill encouraged women to live their roles as wives, moms, employees, daughters and friends to the fullest. It’s a celebration of Christian womanhood.

Confronting the Loneliness Epidemic

The words leapt off the page from the article I was reading as if they were on fire. “We live in the most technologically connected age in the history of civilization, yet rates of loneliness are increasing” (Former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, Forbes, October 17, 2017).
 
Surgeon General Murthy is so persuaded of the impact of loneliness on our health and work that he describes it as a “Loneliness Epidemic,” strong words from a health officer with a unique perspective on the factors and issues impacting public health.
