Columbia Union Teachers Get Recharged at NAD Educators' Convention

This week, some 550 educators and staff members from the Columbia Union Conference joined more than 5,000 other educators in Phoenix for the North American Division Educators’ Convention.

Donovan Ross, Columbia Union vice president for Education, shares the importance of these types of events: “It’s about demonstrating to our teachers the value that we’ve placed in them, recognizing the sacrifices they make for Christian education. It also serves as an opportunity for us to get reacquainted with colleagues or former students or former classmates that we’ve interacted with over the years.”

Today, students face many challenges, pressures and temptations. Seventh-day Adventist education, however, offers young people and their parents a foundation of Christian values and academic excellence.

Academic Achievement. Students in Adventist schools, on average, place half a grade higher nationally in all subjects than other students. More than 85 percent of graduates from an Adventist school go on to college. In Adventist schools, the goal of academic achievement is always paired with the aim of developing a relationship with the Creator—an unbeatable combination!

WGTS 91.9 Named Best Christian Workplace Again

WGTS 91.9 has been named a Best Christian Workplace by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute (BCWI) for the fourth consecutive year. WGTS staff members took the BCWI workplace survey recently. The survey covers three core areas: character, competence, and chemistry. Organizations with a 4.0 or higher on the survey are certified as Best Christian Workplaces. WGTS has participated in the study every year since 2020.

“We know that when we’re healthy internally, it allows us to serve our community better externally,” says Kelly Carvalho, WGTS chief administrative officer. “Caring for each other equips us to love our community well.”

Camp Ministry Extends Beyond Pennsylvania

Third Adventist Young Professionals Convention Empowers Young Adults for Missional Discipleship

Adventist Young Professionals (AYP) successfully concluded their third annual convention, "Thrive: The Next Level," held from July 28-30, 2023. The three-day leadership intensive weekend brought together nearly 400 attendees from North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Africa united in their desire to connect with young adults, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and embrace their purpose and calling as disciples for Christ.

 

Kettering College Opens New Simulation Lab

Kettering College recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new nursing simulation lab, called Lab C. Various faculty and staff attended the ceremony as well as Kettering Health leadership and executive council to commemorate the special day.

Lab C was created to address a growing need for the nursing program. In the fall of 2022, Kettering College welcomed their first cohort of nursing students into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A-BSN) track. Students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 15 months in this accelerated, full-time program.

The Chesapeake Conference recently organized an educational study tour to the Bible lands for pastors, aiming to enhance their biblical knowledge and support their ministry.

On the first phase, the pastors visited Egypt and Jordan, and on the second phase, they traveled to Israel and Palestine. Visits to significant biblical sites such as Mount Sinai, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Jordan River and Mount Carmel were included in the itinerary.

ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) is urgently responding to the devastation caused by Cyclone Biparjoy in India. The storm made landfall in India's coastal regions on June 15th, bringing widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural areas, as well as sparking massive flooding across multiple states.
