It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of our beloved grades 3 and 4 teacher and alumna Mrs. Kimberly Geach Orr (’06) on November 19, due to flu complications. Orr taught at Spring Valley Academy (SVA) for the past seven-and-a-half years, and the school has already felt the void left by her unexpected departure.

The memory of her radiant smile, easy laugh and dedicated teaching will live on for a long time in all of us. Orr leaves behind her husband, Cameron, and 2-year-old daughter, Scarlett. She will be sadly missed by her family, students and friends, but we rejoice because we have that “Blessed Hope” to meet her again one day!

El Consejo para la Educación Privada Estadounidense (CAPE, por sus siglas en inglés) de Nueva Jersey nombró recientemente a Maxine Forbes-Goulding, maestra de la Escuela Adventista del Séptimo Día de Waldwick de la Conferencia de Nueva Jersey, Maestra del Año 2019 de las Escuelas No Públicas.

Kettering College began the first phase of renovations to the third floor of the female residence hall in May 2019.

The third-floor bathrooms, kitchen, lobby area, and the south and west halls now feature refinished floors, with updated ceiling tiles in the kitchen and lobby area. The rooms have been updated with California style closets, built in dressers, new lighting fixtures, memory foam mattresses, hardwood style flooring and Corian countertops for the desks, sinks and dressers. 

Kettering Medical Center has funded the renovations, granting Kettering College a $1.2 million project budget, according to Nicholas Henson, director of Finance and Administration at Kettering College. For the first phase of renovations, $340,000 of it was used.

Bags were packed, gas tanks full and the anticipation of seeing old classmates and sentiments of nostalgia grew, as more than 1,000 people recently traveled to Pine Forge Academy’s (PFA) 44th Annual Alumni Weekend, themed “Forging the Future.” Reaching back to the rich history that begins with an iron mill to the current goals of restoring the campus, PFA eagerly celebrated 74 classes of graduates. Special honor was given to the Class of 1969, as they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

There is a new sport on Highland View Academy’s (HVA) campus that is not only building up student athletes’ physical bodies but teamwork skills too.

The HVA Aerials gymnastics team members build up team spirit and glorify God through their physical talents. The team meets weekly to practice skills and learn how to be healthy Christian representatives. Whether it is telling a Bible story through team demos or by working in pairs or quads to talk about good health choices through movement, the Aerials work hard to communicate God’s love to others.
