Ten years ago, the General Conference launched their enditnow campaign, which emphasizes ending the cycle of abuse on women and children. Intimate partner violence has been a long-standing issue for more than 100 years within the Allegheny West Conference Shiloh Cincinnati church’s surrounding Avondale community. As a result, church members took part in this initiative to stop violence that may affect congregation and community members alike.

On an early morning in Cleveland, Alice Mae Jones (pictured) begins her drive to the nearby Salvation Army in search of bread. After collecting several loaves, she returns home to wrap the slices and sets some aside to help church members in need. She saves the rest for the hungry in her community. In her neighborhood, she offers prayer, encouragement and Bible studies.
Jones, a second generation Seventh-day Adventist, has been active in ministry in Northern Ohio since moving to Cleveland in 1946. Armed with loaves of bread and her Bible, this one-woman feeding ministry has impacted the lives of many in her community.

Allegheny West Conference (AWC) family have quickly embraced Kyle John-Baptiste and Max Gomez, both recent Class of 2019 graduates from Oakwood University (Ala.) and the newest AWC staff members.
A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, John-Baptiste says he is looking forward to his time in Columbus. He comes onboard as an auditor within the Treasury Department and an information technician for the conference office.

The Watoto Children Choir from Uganda travels around the world, sharing their stories and praising God through the beautiful sound of African beats and melody. Watoto, Swahili for “The Children,” is a ministry established in Uganda by Gary and Marilyn Skinner to help children, young people and women who are isolated by their society.
