WGTS 91.9 Hosts Largest Night of Hope

Story by Jerry Woods

WGTS 91.9 just hosted its largest “Night of Hope” event in station history.  On Friday, November 11th, more than 2,000 listeners flooded into McLean Bible Church (Va.) to hear music from the Passion Worship Band with Kristian Stanfill and an inspiring message from Pastor Setan Lee of Transform Asia.  Pastor Lee shared several stories about how God spared his life after he uttered a prayer to a God he didn’t even know.  He turned that message into a message of hope encouraging those in tough circumstances that if God can answer the prayer of someone who doesn’t even know His name, then you can believe He has a good plan for your life.

At the end of the night around 100 people made first-time decisions to give their lives to Christ.

“Night of Hope is designed to reach people who feel far from God.  I loved seeing people accept Pastor Lee's invitation to allow Jesus to be the leader of their life,” says Kumar Dixit, WGTS 91.9 chaplain.

WGTS partnered with Capitol Records to bring Passion to lead worship for their marquee outreach event.  The event was scheduled right after the election which wasn’t the original plan, but the timing proved perfect with many listeners thanking the ministry for providing a message of hope after a very divisive election.   While an election in D.C. is always a stressful experience, there were hundreds of people that came to the event and to the prayer center afterwards to ask for prayer about struggles that they were dealing with.

"To see how God changes lives through music is always amazing - to see people come forward and give their heart to Jesus for the first time is nothing short of pure joy. It means so much to bring hope to the Nation's Capital. To see fear replaced by hope in so many lives at once is an incredible experience," says Kevin Krueger, WGTS 91.9 general manager.
