The John Nevins Andrews School (JNA) in Takoma Park, Md., recently hosted its last graduation ceremony. JNA, a school in Potomac Conference, has been educating young people for the last 110 years. For many of those years, the school was located less than a mile from the former world headquarters of the General Conference and Review and Herald Publishing Association.
JNA ’64 alumnus and General Conference President Ted N. C. Wilson (pictured with JNA principal Grace Ameyaw) attended the final graduation. “John Nevins Andrews Elementary School has been a strong landmark in Seventh-day Adventist education for many decades,” he shares. “The faculty and staff had a strong impact on many of us who attended this tremendous school. … Dedicated teachers and administrators, such as the wonderful principal, Miriam Tymeson, were an inspiration and encouragement to our young lives. … By God’s grace, that dynamism will continue in Seventh-day Adventist education as students are shown the pathway to Christ and service for Him. Those spiritual principles were instrumental in my young life at JNA and will continue to be a blessing to the many students who will benefit from Adventist education until the Lord returns,” he adds.
In Fall 2017, JNA and Sligo Adventist School in Takoma Park, Md., will combine to form Takoma Academy Preparatory School—or TA Prep—on the Takoma Park campus of Takoma Academy. Read more about the school here.
